Renee Shapiro

Growing up in rural Connecticut, Renee was an active member of the Daughters of Bilitis- Boston chapter. Coming out in 1980, she was politically active all throughout the New England geographical area, starting the provincetown Rendezvous Weekend, as well as being involved in other activist groups such as the Women’s Association for Nuclear Disarmament. She was very active in DOB-Boston, specifically in the rap sessions, and was a rap leader for many years before moving away from the organization.
